FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Salisbury junior Jack Barry and Wesley senior Alex Marrs were selected as the CAC Baseball Players of the Week for April 30, 2018.

Salisbury junior Jack Barry earned CAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this year after hitting .625 (10-for-16) at the plate with two home runs, two triples and three doubles in a 3-1 week as the Sea Gulls locked up the No. 1 seed in the CAC Tournament. Barry scored seven times and knocked in nine runs, posting an on-base percentage of .667 and slugging percentage of 1.438. He registered at least two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs in three of the four contests, including falling just a single shy of the cycle in an 11-3 victory over Penn State Harrisburg in the doubleheader opener.

Wesley senior Alex Marrs was named the CAC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this year after tying a career-best with 14 strikeouts in nine innings of work against Christopher Newport. Marrs surrendered eight hits and three runs in his nine innings on the mound, receiving a no-decision in a game that went to extra innings.

The six-team CAC Tournament field is set, with top-seeded Salisbury and second-seeded Christopher Newport set to host opening-weekend three-team pods May 4-5 ... Monday's Frostburg State vs. York game in Frostburg, Md., will determine seeds No. 4 and No. 6 in the tournament ... No. 3 Penn State Harrisburg and No. 5 Southern Virginia will head to the CNU pod, while Frostburg State and York will head to the Salisbury pod, with Monday's winner earning the No. 4 seed ... In the D3baseball.com week 8 rankings, Christopher Newport is No. 8 and Salisbury is No. 21 ... In the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll, Christopher Newport is No. 7 and Salisbury is No. 30 ... CNU senior Brandon Ginch made the most of his Senior Day in a doubleheader sweep over Wesley, reaching base in 7 of his 10 plate appearances for an on-base percentage of .700. He started the ninth-inning rally with a single into center field as the Captains trailed by two with two outs ... Frostburg State junior Nick Fuhrmann drove home five runs on four hits, including a three-run home run in Frostburg's 11-7 win over Southern Virginia last Thursday ... Mary Washington senior OF Mark Smith turned in an outstanding doubleheader for Mary Washington against York on Saturday. Smith went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the opening game, and added three hits and an RBI in the nightcap, a 9-4 Eagle win. Hank Biggs gained a win over York on Saturday, scattering six hits in 5.1 innings, allowing one earned run with three walks and four strikeouts ... St. Mary's senior Sean Goodie went 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored at No. 3 Randolph-Macon before connecting on an RBI double in the win over Frostburg State. Goodie finished his senior campaign, hitting .279 with 18 runs scored, 16 RBI, and nine doubles. Tim Hand collected his second career win for the Seahawks, holding Frostburg State scoreless in a career-best five innings of action in the nightcap, scattering four hits and walking just two. He finished the week with a 1.29 ERA in three appearances ... Salisbury senior Connor Reeves pitched 14 2/3 innings in two starts for the Sea Gulls, including a win over Penn State Harrisburg in the regular season finale. He combined to strikeout 13 batters, while allowing only one earned run ... Southern Virginia senior Tayler Peterson earned his sixth-straight CAC win over Marymount to clinch the program's first playoff spot. Peterson boasts a CAC ERA of 1.84 this season. Sophomore Cole Critchfield was responsible for eight of the Knights' 27 runs this week, batting .467 with a .867 slugging%. Critchfield leads the team with a .354 batting average and 32 RBIs ... Wesley senior Chris Seibert stretched his on-base streak to 17 games with a 5-of-9 (.556) week. He slugged a pair of home runs against CNU to notch his 10th home run of the season. He leads the CAC in hitting (.475), on-base percentage (.552) and slugging percentage (.850) ... York senior Christian Bilan led the Spartans to a 3-1 week, hitting .438 with seven runs scored, three doubles, a home run and nine RBIs.
