FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Mary Washington freshman Drew Johnson was named the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 8, 2017.

Mary Washington freshman Drew Johnson was named the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.5 three-pointers per contest in a 2-0 CAC week for the Eagles. Johnson opened the week with a team-high 25 points on 61.5% (8-for-13) shooting from the field including 70% (7-for-10) from three-point land in an 88-84 home win against Wesley. He added eight rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block in the win. Johnson closed out the week with 12 points, nine boards, three steals and two three-pointers in a 77-74 road win at Penn State Harrisburg. For the week, he shot 54.5% (12-for-22) from the floor and 56.3% (9-for-16) from downtown.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

A third of the way through the conference regular season, York (6-0 CAC) holds a two-game lead atop the standings, with Christopher Newport, Mary Washington and Salisbury in a three-way tie for second place at 4-2 ... York is ranked No. 13 in the D3hoops.com national rankings, while Christopher Newport is receiving votes ... Frostburg State sophomore Daniel Alexander totaled 35 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in two games last week for the Bobcats ... Marymount sophomore Ibrahim Kamara posted a career day on Saturday afternoon, guiding the Saints to a home victory over CNU with a career-high 20 points and game-high 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, third of his career ... St. Mary's sophomore Quentin Twyman finished with career-highs of 14 points, five field goals (5-for-11, 45.5%), and four three-pointers (4-for-7, 57.1%) against Southern Virginia before contributing a career-best nine rebounds and nine points against Wesley ... Chad Barcikowski finished the week with a team-best 36 points. He totaled 24 points against York and then tallied the Sea Gulls first double-double of the season in a 79-57 victory over Frostburg State, netting 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. He finished the week going 44.8% from the field and 50% from behind the arc. Barcikowski ranks sixth in CAC in points per game and 13th in 3-point percentage ... Southern Virginia sophomore Justin Prisbrey led all scorers in each game last week - 16 in win over St. Mary's and a career-high 24 against York. He leads the Knights this season with 12.8 points per game and ranks second on the team in field goal % at 55% ... Wesley senior Paul Clemons averaged 21.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in Wesley's split of CAC games this week. Clemons notched 32 points and 15 rebounds against St. Mary's to record his third double-double of the season ... Jason Bady helped lead undefeated York to CAC road victories at Salisbury and Southern Virginia. The junior guard posted nine rebounds, six assists and six points on Wednesday at Salisbury as the Spartans snapped a seven-game losing streak at Maggs Physical Activities Center. Against Southern Virginia, Bady tied his career-high with 19 points and pulled down a career-high 12 rebounds. For the week, Bady averaged 12.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 66.7% from the floor.
