FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- York senior Alex Smith, Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Alex White and Salisbury senior Duncan Ferrin secured the CAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards for May 1, 2018.

York senior Alex Smith was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after posting a school record in the 3,000 meters at the Paul Kaiser Classic. Smith crossed the line in a time of 8:36.66 to secure first place in a field of 35 runners, outdistancing the second-place finisher by over 14 seconds.

Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Alex White was selected as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week after setting a new CAC record in the long jump at the Paul Kaiser Classic. White jumped to a mark of 7.25 meters, breaking the previous CAC record of 7.25 meters set by York's Phil Cavaluchi in 2013. His jump ranks ninth in Division III so far this spring.

Salisbury senior Duncan Ferrin earbed CAC Field Co-Athlete of the Week after setting new CAC and school records in the hammer throw at the Penn Relays. Ferrin delivered a throw of 58.32 meters, breaking the previous CAC record of 58.31 meters set by Catholic's Sean Duggan in 2004. He broke his own SU mark that he set just last week, edging out athletes from Division I programs such as Pennsylvania and Eastern Michigan.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Six CAC teams competed last week in their final tune-ups for the CAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships ... The CAC Championships will be hosted by Salisbury on May 4-5 ... Frostburg State junior Shamar Nelson posted two ECAC marks as Frostburg competed at the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg. Nelson took sixth in the long jump at 7.08 meters (23ft. 2.75in.) and he registered 18th in the 100-meter prelims in 11.23. Both the distance in the long jump and the prelim time in the 100 landed him a spot at the ECAC Outdoor Championships ... Mary Washington senior Daniel Forjan broke the UMW outdoor shot put record twice this weekend. On Friday at the Penn Relays, he threw the shot to a distance of 52 feet, six inches, and then the next day at the UMW Invitational, broke his own record with a toss of 53 feet, 1.75 inches ... Wesley freshman Tre' Johnson picked up his fourth consecutive win of the outdoor season in the triple jump with a mark of 14.38 meters at the Delaware Open.
