YORK, Pa. -- Mary Washington senior Brianne Comden was honored as the CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 16, 2017.

Mary Washington senior Brianne Comden was honored as the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 23.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game on 62.1% shooting in a 2-0 week for the undefeated Eagles. Comden opened the week by scoring a team-high 15 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor in a 72-56 win at Southern Virginia. She capped her week by scoring a career-high 31 points to go with eight rebounds on a 14-of-20 shooting effort from the floor in a 72-61 triumph over Wesley.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport and Mary Washington are ranked in both the WBCA and D3hoops.com national rankings. CNU is ranked No. 6 by both polls, while UMW is ranked No. 11 by the D3hoops.com and No. 12 by the WBCA ... CNU (15-0, 8-0 CAC) and UMW (15-0, 8-0 CAC) remain unbeaten on the year. The Captains and Eagles will meet on Wednesday in Newport News with first place on the line ... CNU is 15-0 for the second time in program history ... Marymount posted wins over Salisbury and Frostburg State last week to improve to 12-3 overall and 6-2 in league play. Leah Hurst averaged 10.0 points, 7.5 assists, 3.0 steals, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.5 blocks for the week. Hurst now has 85 assists on the year, tops in the conference. With their victory over Frostburg State on Saturday, the Saints continued their perfect streak against the Bobcats with a 13-0 record since Frostburg State joined the league in 2010 ... Nina Haller averaged a double-double for the second straight week as St. Mary's posted a 1-1 week. Haller started the week with 13 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks at No. 6 Christopher Newport before recording her fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and 14 boards plus a season-best six blocks in a win over Southern Virginia ... Salisbury senior Lauren Rothfeld averaged 16 points per game in a pair of games for Salisbury last week, including a 25-point showing against York. Rothfeld leads the CAC in scoring with 16.0 points per game and ranks second in steals with 3.9 per contest ... Southern Virginia junior Shelby Winsor posted a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds vs. Mary Washington, and swiped a season-high four steals at St. Mary's. Winsor leads the Knights in PPG (13.9), RPG (8.3), FG% (44.0%) and minutes played per game (29.9) ... York junior Morgan Kuehne led the Spartans to a pair of CAC victories last week, averaging 16.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 59.1% from the floor and 83.3% from the free throw line. For the season, Kuehne leads the Spartans in scoring at 12.1 points per game while adding 3.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

Brionna Johnson averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in three games this week helping Wesley to a pair of victories. The senior forward netted 10 points, including the game-winning putback with 1.4 seconds remaining to give Wesley a two-point win over Widener University in the team's season opener.
