Wesley Junior Elizsha Streeter and Salisbury Junior Meghan McGowan Selected as CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Wesley junior Elizsha Streeter and Salisbury junior Meghan McGowan were honored as the CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for March 29, 2016.

Wesley junior Elizsha Streeter was named the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after beginning her outdoor season with the top time in the nation in the 200-meter dash at the Wolverine Early Bird Mini-Meet. Streeter raced to a school-record time of 25.14 in the 200, and was also a part of the 4x100 relay squad that turned in a team of 48.29. The 4x100 time currently ranks fourth in Division III.

Meghan McGowan | Salisbury | Jr. 

Odenton, Md.  Arundel

Salisbury junior Meghan McGowan earned CAC Field Athlete of the Week honors after winning the high jump at the Goucher Classic with the third-best mark in the nation. In her first outdoor action of the year, McGowan took home gold in the high jump with a leap of 5'-4.5".

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

All seven CAC women's track & field teams have opened up their 2016 outdoor campaigns ... Christopher Newport's Jennifer Westerholm posted three nationally-ranked efforts during the Commonwealth Duals on Saturday. The senior won the triple jump with a distance of 11.01 meters (14th NCAA), finished second in the 100 hurdles in 1:06.07 (19th NCAA) and third in the high jump at 1.54m (35th NCAA) ... Frostburg State's Kayla Truesdel won the 400-meter dash in an ECAC time of 57.38 at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna. Her time is currently the nation's sixth-fastest ... Mary Washington sophomore Janel Moore picked up a first place and a second at the Christopher Newport Commonwealth Duals on Saturday. Moore finished second in the 100-meter dash at 12.93 seconds, and then took first place in the 200 meters at 26.70 seconds. Senior Taylor Cockerille took a pair of first places and a third place, winning both the shot put at 12.74 meters and the discus at 35.22 meters, and claiming third in the hammer throw at 38.19 meters ... Penn State Harrisburg's Ashley Williams placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.40 seconds at the York Twilight ... Salisbury's Jessica Lane finished first in the 1,500 (5:07.47) and 3,000 (11:12.80) at the Goucher Classic ... Wesley began its spring season by hosting the program's first official track meet - the Wesley Wolverine Early Bird Meet. Monshea Newsome-Murray set a new program record in the triple jump at 37'-02", smashing the previous record by nearly two feet ... York's Jada Griffin-Howard led the Spartans to a strong showing at the 2016 Spartan Invitational on Wednesday afternoon. Griffin-Howard won the 400-meter dash for the second straight meet as she crossed the finish line in a time of 1:01.29. She was then a part of the 4x400 meter relay team as they won the race in a new school-record time of 4:08.57.
