FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- For the second-straight week, Christopher Newport sophomore Monica Lannen and junior Sarah Johnson swept the CAC Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards for April 3, 2018.

Christopher Newport sophomore Monica Lannen earned CAC Track Athlete of the Week honors for the second-straight time after clocking the 16th-fastest 800 time in Division III at the Blue & Silver Challenge on Saturday. Lannen finished in 2:17.14 to secure second place at the meet. The time is tops in the CAC this spring by over six seconds.

Christopher Newport junior Sarah Johnson secured CAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week after posting the ninth-best mark in Division III in the shot put at the Blue & Silver Challenge on Saturday. Johnson finished first in the shot put with a 13.00-meter effort. That distance ranks ninth in the NCAA this year and first in the CAC and South / Southeast Region. She also won the discus with a 40.01-meter heave. That stands as the second-best throw in the conference this year, trailing only her own 40.41-meter toss last week at the Dr. Jack Toms Invitational.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Frostburg State junior Holly Van Wie finished in the third place in the hammer throw and hit an ECAC qualifying at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna. Van Wie 's distance of 42.82 meters also set a new Frostburg record in the hammer ... Mary Washington senior Samantha Gorton took second in the hammer throw at 43.96 meters at the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond in the non DI division ... Salisbury sophomore Taylor Bailey turned in a solid outing at the Blue & Silver Challenge, earning a victory in the triple jump (34'-10.25") and taking second in the long jump (16'-7.25"). SU junior Glory Ebinama won the 200-meter dash, coming home in a time of 26.19 seconds. Ebinama also aided in the 4x100-meter relay team's second-place finish as the team crossed the finish line in a time of 56.85 seconds ... York junior Jess DelViscio posted a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meter run on Wednesday at the York College Twilight Meet in York. DelViscio notched a time of 18:20.52 to earn the fourth place finish in the 40 runner race. Sophomore Emily Clark earned a pair of top six finishes at the York College Twilight Meet on Wednesday in York. Clark finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.3 meters (33' 9.5"). She followed that with a sixth place finish in the high jump with a best height cleared of 1.40 meters (4' 7.0").
