FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --  Salisbury senior Chad Barcikowski was selected as the CAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 22, 2017.

Salisbury senior Chad Barcikowski was selected as the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.5 three-pointers per game in a 2-0 week for the Sea Gulls. Barcikowski opened the week with his second double-double of the year in a 84-68 home win over Wesley, tallying 14 points, 11 boards and seven assists while also adding four steals and two blocks. He then closed out the week with 17 points, five assists and four rebounds in an 80-68 victory at Penn State Harrisburg. Barcikowski currently ranks fifth in the CAC in scoring at 16.2 points per game.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

York (9-1 CAC) holds a one-game lead atop the standings, with Salisbury in second place at 8-2 and Christopher Newport in third place at 7-3 ... York is ranked No. 4 in the D3hoops.com national rankings, tying the highest ranking in school history ... CNU senior Aaron McFarland led the Captains to two CAC victories, and scored 21 on Saturday at Frostburg State in an 85-80 win over the Bobcats ... Frostburg State sophomore Lawrence Pettis, Jr. totaled 44 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds as the Bobcats finished the week 1-1. He scored 24 in FSU's 82-76 OT victory over Southern Virginia ... Freshman Drew Johnson helped Mary Washington to a win over previously undefeated York on Saturday, scoring a team-high 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including four three-pointers. For the week, he shot 50% from the floor (7-of-14), with 5-of-12 three-pointers and 3.5 rebounds per contest. ... Marymount went 1-1 last week. Freshman Steve Etienne averaged 13 points per game on 58.8% shooting along with 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 4.5 steals per contest. Etienne totaled career-highs of 17 points and five assists while adding a block in the closing seconds to seal a three-point victory over St. Mary's on Saturday. In Wednesday's matchup against Penn State Harrisburg, Etienne notched a career-high seven steals ... Penn State Harrisburg junior Kahlil Williams scored 20 points helping the Lions to a road win over Marymount on Wednesday ... Ochae Bynum led St. Mary's in scoring with 15.0 points per game as Bynum shot 42.1% from the field, including 8-for-12 (66.7%) from downtown. He started the week with 13 points and three dimes vs. No. 4 York. Bynum then shared game honors with 17 points at Marymount as he made a career-best five three-point field goals (5-for-6) while adding a game-best two steals ... Southern Virginia senior Cale Thornton scored a career-high 30 points at Frostburg State. Thornton averaged 23.5 PPG last week. He ranks second in the CAC in FG% at 61.8% on the year ... Senior guard JW Lawson averaged 18.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists over two games coming off the bench for the Wolverines ... York's 16-game winning streak snapped on Saturday is the longest in school history, surpassing the 14-game win streak by the 2004-05 Spartans. Jason Bady pulled in a career-high 15 rebounds in the loss at Mary Washington.
