St. Mary's Senior Nina Haller Awarded as CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- St. Mary's senior Nina Haller was awarded as the CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 30, 2017.

St. Mary's senior Nina Haller was awarded as the CAC Player of the Week after nearly averaging a triple-double in a 1-1 week for the Seahawks. Haller posted averages of 18.5 points, 14.0 rebounds and 7.5 blocks per contest. She started the week with 22 points, a game-best 16 rebounds, and a career-best seven blocks in an overtime victory over Wesley. She finished out the week by notching her seventh double-double of the season on 15 points and a game-high 12 boards while besting her career-high with eight blocks in a tough loss to Marymount.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport and Mary Washington are ranked in both the WBCA and D3hoops.com national rankings. CNU is ranked No. 5 by both polls, while UMW is ranked No. 10 in both polls ... CNU continued its perfect 2016-17 season with CAC wins over Salisbury and Penn State Harrisburg last week. Sam Porter poured in a career-high 33 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field and 13-of-17 from the free throw line against Salisbury. It marked the first 30-point game for a CNU player since 2014 when current assistant coach Nicole Mitchell had 38 at Frostburg State ... Frostburg State senior Kirsten Rayner averaged 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in two Bobcat wins last week ...Mary Washington senior All-American Brianne Comden moved into eighth place in the UMW school record book after scoring 27 in a 69-55 win against Southern Virginia. On Saturday at Salisbury, she added 19 points in another Eagle win. For the week, Comden shot 51.4% from the field (19-37) and went 8-of-10 from the free throw line. In addition she grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game, and blocked three shots ... Marymount junior Nicole Viscuso averaged 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 CAC week for the Saints ... Salisbury senior Lauren Rothfeld averaged 16.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per game for the Sea Gulls last week in losses against CNU and UMW, both ranked in the top 10 nationally. Against No. 5 CNU, Rothfeld posted a double-doulbe with 19 points and 11 boards, and also chipped in four blocks, four steals, and four assists. Against No. 10 UMW she went for 14 points and seven rebounds ... Southern Virginia junior Shelby Winsor was the only Knight to score double-digits in both games this week. Winsor continues to lead team with 13.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest this season ... York junior Katie Wagner averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game in a 2-0 week for the Spartans. She began the week by tying her career-high with 20 points in the Spartans' 58-43 win over Penn State Harrisburg. She was 6-for-14 from the floor and 8-for-11 from the free throw line while she also had four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Wagner followed that with 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and four steals in the Spartans' 84-61 road win at Southern Virginia. Wagner was 8-for-14 from the floor in her 24 minutes of action.

Brionna Johnson averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in three games this week helping Wesley to a pair of victories. The senior forward netted 10 points, including the game-winning putback with 1.4 seconds remaining to give Wesley a two-point win over Widener University in the team's season opener.
