FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Christopher Newport sophomore Micah Maloney was selected as the CAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 5, 2018.

Christopher Newport sophomore Micah Maloney was selected as the CAC Player of the Week after averaging 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest in wins over Salisbury and Marymount. Maloney began the week by notching her second double-double of the season with a career-high 21 points and a career-high-tying 10 rebounds in a 68-52 win at Salisbury. She added a near double-double at home against Marymount, scoring 10 points along with nine boards to help the Captains move into a first-place tie with the Saints. For the week, she also added 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 46.2% (12-for-26) from the field and 85.7% (6-for-7) from the free throw line.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

With Christopher Newport's victory over Marymount on Saturday, the Captains and Saints are now deadlocked atop the CAC standings at 13-1 in conference play ... Christopher Newport is ranked No. 12 in the D3hoops.com and No. 10 in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) rankings, while Marymount is ranked No. 21 in the D3hoops.com rankings and No. 24 by the WBCA ... Frostburg State sophomore Victoria Diggs averaged 21 points over two games last week for Frostburg, including 27 in a win over Penn State Harrisburg ... Junior Meghan Comer helped Mary Washington to a pair of wins this week in CAC action, scoring 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting in a 61-58 win at St. Mary's and scored 15 on 6-of-9 shooting from the field in a win over Penn State Harrisburg. For the week, she shot 11-of-16 from the floor, and averaged six rebounds per game ... Marymount senior Nicole Viscuso put up a pair of double-digit scoring games, averaging 14 per game along with 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 block ... Olivia Nowlin paced St. Mary's with 13.5 points per game and 3.0 assists per game this past week. Nowlin has now scored in double figures nine times this season, including reaching the double-digit plateau in each of the last three games ... Salisbury junior Kaylyn French averaged 18.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game while shooting 50% from the field in a 1-1 week for the Sea Gulls. She scored a career-high 25 points and tied a season-high with 14 rebounds in a win against Frostburg State ... Wesley freshman Shelby Johnson recorded a pair of double-doubles last week, and grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds against St. Mary's. Her 22 rebounds are most in a game for the Wolverines since Brionna Johnson pulled down 22 boards against North Carolina Wesleyan on Nov. 16, 2013 ... York senior Katie Wagner led the Spartans to a 2-0 week and became the 15th Spartan in school history to reach 1,000 career points. For the week, Wagner averaged 14 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game.
