YORK, Pa. -- York senior Kathleen Cannon and Christopher Newport senior Jennifer Westerholm were selected as the CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for April 19, 2016.

York senior Kathleen Cannon was awarded as the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after posting the top time in the CAC in the 5,000 meters at the Sam Howell Invitational on April 9. Cannon raced to a time of 17:58, which also marked a personal best.

Christopher Newport senior Jennifer Westerholm secured CAC Field Athlete of the Week accolades after winning the heptathlon at the New Captains Classic with a score of 4,234, which ranks 10th in the NCAA this year. During the combined event, she posted the top time in the 100-hurdles (15.57) and 800 (2:26.69). She also posted a distance of 5.16 meters in the long jump, which ranks as the top distance in the CAC this year. Additionally, she cleared 1.56 meters in the high jump, which stands second in the league.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE
The CAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships are set for this weekend, April 22-23 at Frostburg State ... Frostburg State sophomore Kayla Truesdel grabbed the team's only victory as she posted an ECAC time of 58.64 in the 400-meter dash as the Bobcats competed at the Mason-Dixon Invitational at Gettysburg ... Salisbury's Abby Richards notched two top-five finishes at the New Captains' Classic on Saturday. Richards' best finish was second in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 15.83 seconds. She also placed third in the 400-meter dash in 1:09.87. Meghan McGowan finished first in the high jump at 5'-4.25" ... York's Jada Griffin-Howard broke a six-year-old school record in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.02.
