Wesley Senior Elizsha Streeter and Salisbury Senior Meghan McGowan Selected as CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- Wesley senior Elizsha Streeter and Salisbury senior Meghan McGowan were selected as the CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week for April 11, 2017.

Wesley senior Elizsha Streeter claimed CAC Track Athlete of the Week honors after posting a trio of top-10 performances at the Delaware Open last Saturday. Streeter took third in the 200 meters (25.97), sixth in the 400 meters (59.88), and ninth in the 100 meters (12.64) in field loaded with Division I competition.

Salisbury senior Meghan McGowan was named the CAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this year after registering a second-place finish in the high jump at the Delaware Open. McGowan cleared the bar at 1.70 meters, matching her top mark of the season. She currently ranks third in the event in Division III.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Seven of the eight CAC track & field teams competed last week ... The CAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships are less than two weeks away, set for April 21-22 hosted by Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. ... Christopher Newport's Hannah Shoemaker moved into the top-10 nationally in the shot put during the George Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday. She finished third overall and first among Division III competitors with a distance of 13.50 meters. That effort currently ranks ninth in the NCAA and first in the CAC by over three feet. It also marked the third-finest effort in CNU history ... Frostburg State's Kayla Truesdel took second in the 400-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 59.07 at the Messiah Invitational. She also helped the 4x100-meter relay team to a third place finish (51.50) ... Penn State Harrisburg sophomore Ashley Williams won the 100-meter hurdles at the Messiah Track & Field Invitational with a time of 15.26 seconds ... Salisbury's Jessica Lane captured a victory in the 5,000-meter run at the Delaware Open, crossing the finish line in a time of 18:51.31, nearly a full 14 seconds better than the second-place finisher ... Wesley's Monshea Newsome-Murray collected a fourth-place finish in the triple jump (10.52m) and sixth-place mark in the long jump (5.24m) at the Delaware Open.
