FREDERICKBURG, Va. -- York junior Alayna De Bruin and Salisbury sophomore Kyleigh Dumas were tabbed as the CAC Track & Field Athletes of the Week for April 24, 2018.

York junior Alayna De Bruin was honored as the CAC Track Athlete of the Week after setting a new school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Greyhound Invitational on Saturday in Bethlehem, Pa. De Bruin notched a time of 11:34.57 to capture first place in the 15-runner field by more than 25 seconds. Her time ranks atop the CAC this spring.

Salisbury sophomore Kyleigh Dumas was honored as the CAC Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this year after setting new CAC and school records in the pole vault at the Captains Classic last weekend. Dumas cleared the bar at a height of 12 feet, breaking her previous school record of 11'-5.75" and the previous CAC record of 11'-6.5" set by Mary Washington's Claire Harrington in 2015.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE
Christopher Newport senior Hannah Shoemaker recorded the conference's top effort in the shot put this year after posting a victory in the event during the New Captains Classic on Saturday. The senior uncorked a 13.51-meter toss, which stands as the best effort in the CAC by 18 inches. It also ranks 13th in the NCAA this year. Additionally, Shoemaker recorded a 38.28-meter throw in the discus, which places her fifth on the program's all-time performance list. Sophomore Monica Lannen registered a victory in the 1500 at the New Captains Classic on Saturday while posting the CAC's top time in the event this year. During the race, the sophomore crossed the line in 4:38.81, which stands as the best mark in the conference by over nine seconds. It also ranks 28th in the country this year and marks the third-fastest clocking in CNU history ... Frostburg State sophomore Gabbriell Reason sprinted to a first-place and ECAC-qualifying 12.82 time in the 100-meter dash at the Mason-Dixon Invitational at Gettysburg. She cruised to a runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash at 26.77 ... Mary Washington junior Jillian Weisbeck competed in the unseeded 5000 meters at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton this weekend, and ran a personal best time of 17:48.05, knocking 20 seconds off her PR and finishing in second place in the race. On Saturday at Gallaudet University, Isabella Anderegg of Mary Washington finished first in the discus throw at 33 meters, third in the shot put at 10.79 meters, and third in the hammer throw at 34.15 meters ... Penn State Harrisburg freshman Sarah Lehman continues to impress in her freshman campaign, setting the top mark in the CAC in both the triple and long jumps last week. Lehman recorded a mark of 5.65 meters in the long jump at the Shippensburg University Mid-Week, which ranks her 10th nationally. At the event, Lehman also placed the top mark in the triple jump, traveling 11.85 meters which is ranked fourth nationally ... Salisbury junior Glory Ebinama captured a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in a time of 12.51 seconds. She also helped the 4x100-meter relay team earn a fourth-place finish posting a mark of 49.18 seconds ... Southern Virginia freshman Mesi Havea placed fourth in the discus at the Captains Classic with a throw of 38.50 meters, and also took fourth in the shot put at 11.56 meters. Sophomore Clarissa Barton set a school record by breaking the five-minute barrier in a sixth-place 1500m run (4:56) ... In the jumps at the Widener Invitational, Wesley's Lekeshia Brown-Myrick placed sixth in the triple jump and seventh in the long jump. Brown-Myrick registered a leap of 10.87 meters (35-8) in the triple jump and a mark of 5.03 meters (16-6) in the long jump.
