The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its Capital One Academic All-American teams and senior Jennifer Houghton claimed cross country/track & field third-team honors. This marks the 19th Academic All-American for Salisbury University since 2001, and the first for a cross country/track & field student-athlete.

Salisbury University junior Chelsea Tavik entered Saturday's shot put competition at the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships as the second-seeded student-athlete. Through the first round of competition, she was in first place before a career throw by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh's Breanna Strupp would land Tavik in a second-place finish with a mark of 47' 5".

A small contingent of Salisbury University track & field student-athletes traveled to The College New Jersey to compete in the Lions' Last Chance Meet, bringing home two school records. Junior Chelsea Tavik improved her top mark in the shot put while sophomore Kara Tolson bettered her school record in the 200-meter dash.

In 2010, the Salisbury women’s track & field snapped Mary Washington’s 16-year dominance of the CAC Championship by winning its first team title. In 2011, York did the same to Salisbury on the men’s side, ending the Sea Gulls’ seven-year run of championships.
