YORK, Pa. -- Frostburg State junior Kayla Truesdel and Christopher Newport senior Briana Sutton earned CAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week accolades for April 18, 2017.

Frostburg State junior Kayla Truesdel secured CAC Track Athlete of the Week honors for the fourth time this year after recording career-best and CAC-leading times in the 100 and 200 meter dashes at the Johns Hopkins Invitational last weekend. Truesdel won the 200-meter dash with a career-best time of 25.13, which ranks atop the CAC and 16th in the nation. She placed second in the 100-meter dash at 12.14, which is another personal best, the top time in the CAC, and 22nd nationally.

Christopher Newport senior Briana Sutton earned CAC Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this year after climbing up the national charts in a pair of events while setting two school records at the Captains Classic & Combined Events over the weekend at POMOCO Stadium. Taking part in the heptathlon for the first time this season, she registered a score of 4,733 - topping the previous school standard of 4,509 established by former All-American Enuma Ezenwa in 2015. It also marks the second-highest score in the NCAA this year, falling just 66 points shy of the national leader. Additionally, Sutton broke the program record in the javelin with a 40.11-meter throw on Saturday. That tacked on nearly five feet to her own previous record of 38.62. It also stands as the 17th-finest throw in the country this year and the best effort in the CAC by over nine feet.

The two-day CAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place this Friday & Saturday at Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. ... Mary Washington junior Janel Moore placed second in the 200 meter dash at the Johns Hopkins Invitational at 25.27 seconds. Yamina James tied for seventh in the pole vault at 2.65 meters. Sheree Turner finished seventh in the discus throw at 38.17 meters and seventh in the hammer throw at 41.32 meters ... Salisbury competed at the Captains Classic hosted by CNU. Victoria Isidron earned a third-place finish in the javelin throw (71' 11") to lead the Sea Gulls in the field event, while Shea McCloskey captured a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters at 2:18.93 ... Wesley's Elizsha Streeter captured four top-five finishes at the Johns Hopkins Invitational. Streeter joined Angel Hall, Brianna Artis and Quadira Minus to win the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:51.42, over four seconds better than the second place team. The relay team narrowly missed sweeping the relays with a second-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay in 48.56 seconds, three-hundredths of a second behind Coppin State. Streeter also notched a fourth-place effort in the 200-meter dash (25.50) and a fifth-place time in the 100-meter dash (12.54) ... York hosted its annual Spartan Twilight Meet on Wednesday. Junior Ericka Quenzer broke her school record in the 100 meter hurdles for the fourth time this year at 14.99. Freshman Gabby Emeigh won the hammer throw at 37.98m, finished second in both the discus and javelin, and took fifth in the shot put.
