York Junior Ericka Quenzer and Wesley Freshman Jasmine Brown Named CAC Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week

YORK, Pa. -- York junior Ericka Quenzer and Wesley freshman Jasmine Brown secured CAC Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week accolades for May 2, 2017.

York junior Ericka Quenzer secured CAC Track Athlete of the Week honors after breaking the school record in the 100-meter hurdles at the Paul Kaiser Invitational hosted by Shippensburg. Quenzer set a new school mark in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.82, which placed her third in the event. Her time ranks 26th in Division III this year.

Wesley freshman Jasmine Brown as named the CAC Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this year after collecting a trio of top-five finishes at the TCNJ Lions Invitational on Saturday. Brown recorded a pair of third-place finishes in the high jump (1.60m) and the triple jump (11.26m), and also placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 5.26m.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Christopher Newport women's track & field team collected its fourth consecutive CAC championship on April 21-22 as the Captains notched seven individual titles in the 20 events at Mary Washington ... Frostburg State's Kayla Truesdel, Wesley's Jasmine Brown, and Christopher Newport's Tyler Wingard were honored with the major awards on the 2017 All-CAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team ... Truesdel secured the first Outdoor Athlete of the Year accolade of her career after winning the 100 and 200 meters and anchoring a pair of second-place relays in the 4x100 and 4x400. She is the first-ever Bobcat to be named Outdoor Athlete of the Year ... Brown became the first-ever Wesley student-athlete to earn Rookie of the Year honors after taking top honors in the long jump and triple jump and second place in the high jump ... Wingard was selected as Coach of the Year by his peers for the third straight year after leading CNU to its fourth consecutive outdoor crown ... Six CAC teams were in action last week, including several at the historic Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa. ... Frostburg State junior Kayla Truesdel continued her dominance by capturing a first and a second-place finish at the 13th-Annual Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg, Saturday. She added another 200-meter dash title to her resume, while setting a new career-best in the event at a mark of 25.00 seconds. The win is her fourth in the 200 this season and her fifth overall individual victory. She also took second-place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.33 seconds, but was the top NCAA Division III finisher ... Salisbury's Emily Wahlgren turned in a solid performance at the Lion Invitational hosted by TCNJ this weekend, capturing an eighth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles coming home in a time of 1:08.30 ...
